Bass/midrange speaker criteria:1) Resonance frequency 43-47 Hz. More or less will result in resonance problems.2) The cone itself, excluding the rubber surround, must have a diameter of just below 17 cm. More or less will reduce the horn efficiency.3) The speaker must go all the way up to 4 kHz with low distortion (no break-up). Otherwise the midrange will be unclean and stereo image diffuse. Check that the speaker frequency range does not go much further than the recommended split frequency.4) The cone and cone suspension must have low resonance levels. There should be no audiable resonance tone when subjected to a short DC pulse. 5) The Qts value must be as close to 1.0 as possible. Lower Qts values are not suitable for this desing!6) The cone must be both stiff and light at the same time. A soft material (like paper or cellulose) will ”break up” at the high preassure it will be subjected to, resulting in lower sound quality, diffuse stereo image and, in time, probably cracking due to the preassure!

The tweeter criteria:1) Resonance frequency below 2 kHz.2) Frequency response down to 2.5 kHz (or lower). 3) Good phase linearity and wide angle dispertion of sound. Dome tweeters with silc domes are best. Cheaper designs should be avoided. We strongly advise you not to use piezo horns. They might bring you a lot of treble, but it will be very unclean. 4) The same SPL as the bass/midrange speaker.
